SEC New Partnership: Lakehead University

Many of our students at SEC choose to continue their education in Canadian universities and colleges which is why we have a stellar English for Academic Preparation program. Today’s post is all about our newest partner – Lakehead University.

Lakehead University was established in 1965 and currently has classes on two campuses – one in Thunder Bay and another in Orillia. On their Thunder Bay campus, students are privy to beautiful Northern landscapes and mixture of both modern and historic architecture. The campus is located just south-west of Port Arthur, Ontario.

Orillia campus was established in 2006 and is growing every day. Campus is beautiful any time of the year.

Can you imagine studying in a campus that is surrounded by all of this Canadian natural beauty?!

Lakehead has a strong athletic department with student teams in all major sports. With basketball, volleyball, hockey and more offered on campus, there are plenty of ways to get involved and to keep active.

Lakehead offers programs under many different faculties such as Business Administration, Engineering, Health and Behavioral Sciences, Natural Resource Management and more. Our EAP program is used as an English Proficiency Credit that allows students to enter into the post secondary institute without having to submit an IELTS or TEOFL score.

SEC’s EAP program will set you up for success in your academic future. Our classes are kept small to allow our students maximum interaction with their teacher. They are taught how to properly write essays, make references and citation, take notes as well as explained complex grammatical structures and effective study skills. Classes are taught lecture style to help student transition smoothly from school to university or college.

We have 17 establish partnerships with post secondary institutes all over Canada. For more information, please contact us at
